Publisher’s red cloth, lettered (no dust jacket issued). - A study of 341 bindings in the Rijksmuseum Meermanno-Westreenianum / Museum van het Boek and Koninklijke Bibliotheek in The Hague, by the Keeper of the Binding Collection at the Dutch Royal Library in The Hague. The author identifies about twenty different binderies and arranges his catalogue according to atelier, and within these the bindings are listed chronologically. “The plates of tools which follow the catalogue are its real treasure” (from a review by Mirjam Foot, in The Book Collector, Spring 1980, pp.122-125).
