Publisher’s printed wrappers. - This remarkable first catalogue contains the fifth known copy of Goff C-695; the only known copy of Miracoli della Madonna (Bologna: Guglielmo Piemontese, 14 June 1491), formerly in the Fairfax Murray and De Marinis collections; a copy of the Venice 1494 Lucian Vera historia with marginalia by Andrea de Franceschi (cf. Tura in Scriptorium, volume 61, 2007, pp.438-43); a copy of Scinzenzeler’s c. 1503 De regionibus urbis Romae, printed on vellum, said to be the only book book printed on vellum from that press (ex-W.H. Robinson, Catalogue 47, 1948, item 66); and the Libri–Yemeniz–Huth–Quaritch (B. Quaritch, Catalogue 371, 1922, item 1221) copy of Uberto Filomena e Alba, which is otherwise known only by the copy in the Biblioteca Colombina in Seville. Publisher’s printed wrappers. - Includes the Heber–Bertin–Solar–Firmin Didot–Fairfax Murray–Gillet–Edmée Maus copy of La belle Maguelonne (Rouen: Richard Goupil for Michel Angier, c. 1511-1513); a lace pattern book, Il spechio di pensieri delle belle e virtuduose donne (Venice: Matteo Pagan, 1549), from the Pantaleon Costa de Beauregard–Louis Potier–Émile Delicourt collections, previously seen with Salloch in 1982; and a copy of the Antiquae statuae Urbis Romae (Rome: Lorenzo della Vaccheria, 1584), in which re-strikings of four 15th-century engravings are included (another copy with the same four plates, in the Bibliothèque nationale de France, is described by G. Lambert, Les premières gravures italiennes. Quattrocento – début de Cinquecento, Paris 1999, nos. 391-394).

D 80205).

Publisher’s printed wrappers. - Discussion of the woodcut illustration in the unique copy of Johannes Baptista Cantalycius, Canones grammatices, Rome: Eucharius Silber, 1498 (Katalog der Bibliothek Otto Schäfer, Schweinfurt. Teil I: Drucke, Manuskripte und Einbände des 15. Jahrhunderts, Stuttgart 1984, no. 90; GW 0599205N). The volume was consigned by the Otto Schäfer Stiftung to Sotheby’s, London, 28 November 2007, lot 33. It is described by Tura, “Un’edizione quattrocentina poco nota di Eucario Silber, un capolavoro del Maestro dell’Esopo di Napoli e un problema aperto” in Studi medievali e umanistici, volumes 5-6 (2007-2008), pp.495-504.

Publisher’s printed wrappers. - Describes a copy of a small book of burlesque verse commissioned by the itinerant bookseller Ippolito Ferrarese, Francesco Maria Molza’s Capitulo in lode del Verno: et vno altro capitulo in lode de la torta (Parma: Franccesco da Prato, 1540), of which one other copy is recorded (Perugia, Biblioteca comunale Augusta, Edit 16 online, CNCE 72896). “Nessuna copia di questo libro si e posta in commercio”. ¶ Gift of the author, inscribed.
