Forty-seven catalogues (24 cm), a fine, complete set of the numbered series, of which nos. 1-38 are bound in three volumes, quarter-morocco (preserving publisher’s pictorial wrappers), and nos. 39-47 are as issued, in the publisher’s pictorial wrappers. - A well-preserved, complete set of Jörg Schäfer’s scholarly catalogues. Schäfer (1935-1997) was apprenticed at Gilhofer & Ranschburg in Lucerne, for whom he wrote their celebrated “Catalogue 50: Erasmus of Rotterdam: a choice collection of seventy valuable editions and translations of Erasmus’ works, supplemented by early portraits” (1970). After his untimely death, his stock was sold by the auctioneers Zisska & Kistner in Munich (Auktion 29: Seltene und wertvolle Bücher aus dem Nachlass von Jörg Schäfer, Munich, 20 May 1997). ¶ Page numerals in lower margin occasionally trimmed by the binder; otherwise fine, unmarked copies.
