Publisher’s cloth binding. - The catalogue is organised in two parts, the first describing 138 books by or about women “that focus on such topics as witchcraft, misogyny, love, marriage, adultery, prayer, education and fashion. Several biographical dictionaries of notable women are included, as well as the first printed book ever devoted entirely to women’s dress”. The second part presents 1231 secondary works. “Women in the printing business” (pp.227-280). Introduction by Merry Wiesner-Hanks; catalogue by Axel Erdmann.
