Geneva, Nicolas Rauch, 1954
(28 cm), 146 pp., 28 plates, illustrations. 400 lots. Publisher’s printed wrappers. - ‘As usual, the books derived from many and varied sources, but there was a hard core, consisting mainly of French sixteenth and seventeenth-century books, which came from one library… There were a number of Aldines, at present out of fashion as such, and for the most part they brought low prices… The eighteenth-century illustrated books continued to be a weak market and were in many cases bought back… The modern French illustrated books were, relatively speaking, the sensation of the sale’ (from ‘Notes on Foreign Sales’ in The Times Literary Supplement, 14 May 1954, p.320). ¶ Wrapper abraded at foot of the spine, with small loss.
