Martin Breslauer had established his bookselling business in 1898 and issued catalogues from addresses in Berlin under this name from c. 1905 (no. 1) to 1937 (no. 51), when the business was relocated in London. Breslauer, took over the firm after Martin’s death in 1940. The binding reproduced on the frontispiece (Order of St Michel, Le livre de statuts, c. 1550) is now British Library, Henry Davis Gift, 398 (M. Foot, The Henry Davis Gift, I, p.182, no. 22). ¶ Extracted from a binding. Good, unmarked copy.
