Publisher’s pictorial wrappers. - Highlight of the sale (lot 20) was the pristine ninth-century Carolingian Gospel book, formerly in the Libri–Penrose–Hornby–Abbey–Beck collections, purchased by the Metropolitan Museum of Art (£1,986,500). Includes (lots 132-157) property of “The Royal House of Saxony, the House of Wettin A.L. (Albertine Line)” restituted in 2014, and (lots 174-182) valuable science books from the library of the Hilton Young, 1st Baron Kennet (1879-1960), consigned by executors of his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Kennet (1923-2014). ¶ As new.
