Publisher’s printed wrappers. - The sale “contained a beautiful copy in contemporary calf of Pascal Pensées 1670 (€15,000), and an important sheaf of Proust, part manuscript and part corrected typescript. The latter, of ‘Sodome et Gomorrhe’ from A la Recherche [lot 122], made €200,000, and a series of leaves of the sequel, ‘La Prisonnière’, some vastly extended lengthwise by pasted on sheets, made a total of €156,000 sold as five lots” (saleroom report in The Book Collector, Spring 2003, p.81). Also sold were “Importants manuscrits historiques, correspondance de la Reine d’Espagne à sa mère Catherine de Médicis”. ¶ Annotated copy, partly priced.
