The Americana library of Laird U. Park, Jr. (catalogue of an auction sale conducted by Sotheby’s, New York, 29 November 2000)

New York, Sotheby’s, 2000
(27 cm), 328 pp., illustrations (some in colour). 394 lots. List of prices realised loosely inserted. Publisher’s printed wrappers, pictorial dust jacket. - The Park Library was devoted principally to the history of Philadelphia and to Benjamin Franklin in particular. Some books apparently were collected by Irene Dearnley Park; the majority were gathered by her son, the Philadelphia businessman Laird U. Park, Jr., through Clarence Wolf at MacManus. “The prices were well estimated and there were few surprises, least of all that William Reese should buy the major part” (from a saleroom report in The Book Collector, Spring 2001, p.88). ¶ Unmarked copy.
