Publisher’s printed wrappers. - Lots 1-54 are books from the collection of Hugh Thomas Fattorini (1934-2005), “built up over a period of forty years, during which time every opportunity was taken to exchange one copy for another of superior quality… This is a connoisseur’s collection…Each lot in this outstanding collection repays careful scrutiny” (catalogue foreword by Christine Jackson). The highest price in the sale was achieved for a German 17th-century Florilegium (lot 63, £188,500). Other books from Fattorini’s Skipton Castle library were offered by Sotheby’s on 8 May 2002. ¶ Annotated copy.
