Publisher’s printed wrappers. - A manuscript of the “Vita et prophetia St Hildegard” from Kempten, c. 1438, with twenty-seven full-page pictures, was bought by Max Reed for £155,500 (saleroom report in The Book Collector, Autumn 1994, p.414; it subsequently appeared in Jörn Günther’s Catalogue 3, 1995, item 15). A copy of Machiavelli Libro della arte della Guerra (Florence 1521) in 17th-century English vellum sold for £22,425; a copy of Duns Scotus on vellum (Venice [1476?-1478]) with English illumination was bought-in (lot 185, £29,000). ¶ Annotated copy, partly priced.
