London, Sotheby's, 1993
(26 cm), 91 (9) pp., illustrations (some in colour). 75 lots. Price list loosely inserted. Publisher’s printed wrappers. - A collection of Savonarola’s sermons, 1490-1491, largely written in his own hand, once in the possession of the Florentine humanist Girolamo Benivieni (1453-1542), cautiously estimated £20,000-30,000 (lot 56), sold for £210,500 to Quaritch; it had been consigned by Philip Robinson. A Book of Hours illuminated by Francesco di Lorenzo Rosselli (lot 75), previously offered by Sotheby’s (among the Dortmond manuscripts, on 7 December 1992, lot 72), failed to sell. ¶ Occasional annotation.
