London, Trinity Fine Art, 1998
(21 × 29.5 cm), [8] pp., colour illustrations. Publisher’s printed wrappers. - Gallery catalogue describing an unusual painting attributed (by M.A. Katritzky) to a Flemish artist working in Italy, in which over 100 commedia dell’arte performers, including 90 matachins (armed moresca) are depicted. Sold to the New York collector William F. Reilly (1938-2008), it returned to the market at Christie’s, New York, 14 October 2009, lot 92, where it failed to sell (estimate $600,000-800,000). In 2010, the painting reappeared on the stand of Richard L. Feigen at the European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF), described as “16th-century North Italian artist, School of Veneto”, and apparently was sold (Apollo: The International Magazine for Collectors, May 2010, p.58). ¶ Very good, unmarked copy.
