(26 cm), 163 (17) pp., illustrations. 211 lots (194 from Sexton, 17 from the Morgan Library). Publisher’s green printed boards. - A portion of the library of Eric Hyde Lord Sexton (1902-1980). Sexton obtained books from 114 different printing places; six editions were unrecorded in Goff’s Third Census, and of these three were the only known copies. Of the 211 lots, more than half were bought by four booksellers: L.C. Harper (51 lots), H.P. Kraus (30 lots), Quaritch (20 lots), and Laurence Witten (13 lots). A further selection from Sexton’s library (388 lots) was sold by Christie’s in London, as Books from the library of the late Eric Sexton, FSA. removed from Rockport, Maine (15-16 April 1981). ¶ Annotated copy, partly priced, with names of buyers’ and underbidders.
