Any book in a fine binding or contemporary colouring (and there were many) did correspondingly well. Three spectacularly well-preserved Parisian fanfare bindings of the 1560s multiplied their estimate by ten, making DM350,000 together, while a composite atlas made for the family in Antwerp in 1718 and bound there in red morocco made DM110,000. The scientific books, more than one of which came from the library of Joachim Rheticus, did well too” (from a saleroom report in The Book Collector, Autumn 1994, pp.413-414. ¶ Annotated copy.
