Publisher’s printed wrappers. - The fourth auction of the Landau-Finaly library, following sales conducted in Geneva, on 25-26 June 1948 (Bibliothèque de feu le baron Horace de Landau de Florence: Première vente aux enchères; choix de livres anciens et modernes, manuscrits et imprimés, by Erardo Aeschlimann et William S. Kündig in association with Libreria Antquaria Ulrico Hoepli, Milan); in London, 12-13 July 1948 (Catalogue of very important illuminated manuscripts and printed books selected from the renowned library formed by Baron Horace de Landau, by Sotheby & Co.); and in Zurich, on 13-16 October 1948 (Die Bibliotheken Baron Horace de Landau [part III], by L’Art ancien SA in association with Haus der Bücher, Basel). Subsequent sales were conducted in London, by Sotheby & Co., 17-18 October and 31 October 1949. The “Collezioni Landau Finaly: arazzi, quadri, bronzi, maioliche, porcellane, argenteria, tappeti, lampadari, mobili” had been sold “nei saloni della villa Landau Finaly” in Florence, 12-17 May 1948.
