Publisher’s pictorial wrappers. - A library of more than 4500 books on Rome collected by Franklin H. Kissner (1909-1988). The sale realised an unexpected £2.2m, largely due to spirited bidding by Italian institutional libraries, including the Camera dei deputati (cf. their Libri e stampe dalla collezione Kissner: catalogo, Rome 1994; and Immagini di Roma: libri e incisioni della collezione Kissner: catalogo della mostra: Biblioteca della Camera dei deputati, Roma, febbraio-marzo 1996, Rome 1996). ¶ Wrappers creased. Copiously annotated copy, partly priced.
