(24.5 cm), 89 (1) pp., 12 leaves of plates (including frontispiece). 576 lots. Publisher’s printed wrappers. - Included was the rump of “The well-known E.P. Goldschmidt Collection of early bindings” (lots 247-303), consigned a year after Goldschmidt’s death by the new proprietor of the firm, Jacques Vellekoop (1926-2007). Several catalogue plates illustrate Goldschmidt’s bindings: lot 276 (G. & R., no. 192, pl.LXVIII), lot 248 (G. & R., no. 20, pls. X, Xa), lots 266/282 (G. & R., no. 186; G. & R., no. 246, pl.XCVII). Also in the sale (lots 246-247, illustrated on three plates) were “Two highly important manuscript relations of Columbus from the archives of a Venetian Patrician family to whom the archives of the Malatesta and Pisani families had passed by inheritance”. ¶ Annotation in ink on upper wrapper; otherwise an unmarked and clean copy.
