Publisher’s printed wrappers, original plain card slipcase. - Among the illuminated manuscripts was one of Jean Froissart’s “Chroniques”, written c. 1420; its previous owners include Louis Malet, seigneur de Graville (1437-1516), La Vallière (sale 1783, lot 5049) and the 7th Duke of Newcastle (Sotheby’s, 6 December 1937, lot 943). The manuscript reappeared in the Robert Danon sale (21 March 1973, lot 6); it returned again to the market in a sale conducted by Gros & Delettrez, 8 April 2011, lot 549 (€450,000). René Gaston Dreyfus (1886-1969) also formed a large collection of Daumier lithographs; those prints were sold by Maurice Rheims, on 7-8 December 1966 and 6-17 May 1968. ¶ Unmarked copy.
