Publisher’s pictorial wrappers. - The books were consigned anonymously by Martin Breslauer, Inc. “The mainly continental examples were rather over-estimated, which affected the lesser lots badly… Modern bindings tended to do better. A masterpiece by Bonet on the Picasso Buffon made £45,000 (Maggs), and an equally grand Rose Adler, Bernanos Jeanne, relapse et sainte 1951, £24,000” (from a saleroom report in The Book Collector, Autumn 1996, pp.366-369). The 90 lots which managed to sell realised over £500,000. ¶ Annotated copy, priced.
