Publisher’s printed wrappers. - Lot 397, Erasmus’ heavily annotated copy of his Adagia (Basel: Johann Froben, 1523), consigned anonymously and hitherto unknown, sold for £495,000 to Nico Israel (for a European collector), in fierce competition with representatives of the University of Amsterdam Library and Basel University Library. ¶ Annotated copy, partly priced.
