Publisher’s printed wrappers. - Includes property of Professor Stanley Thomas Bindoff (1908-1980). “There was a surprise influx of international competition… That apparently dry subject [bibliography] is meat and drink to book dealers and they carried the bidding regularly to double pre-sale estimates and, on occasion, multiplied estimates 10 times. H.P. Kraus, the book Maecenas from New York, bid £3,200 (estimate £150-£300) for a ‘stack’ of old publishers’ house lists. Quaritch paid £2,000 (estimate £400-500) for the Frankfurt book fair catalogue of 1574” (saleroom report in The Times, 28 October 1981, p.14). ¶ Unmarked copy.
