Publisher’s pictorial wrappers. - The bronze sculpture of a dancing faun (or Juggling Man) had been purchased by Edward Holroyd Pearce (1901-1990) at Christie’s, 26 July 1951, lot 105, for about £100, and for nearly forty years stood in his garden at Crowborough, Sussex. Sotheby’s included the bronze in a sale of garden statuary at their Billingshurst branch in Sussex, estimated at up to £1800; however, before the auction it was spotted by Elizabeth Wilson, and sent to London. It was acquired there by Cyril Humphris for £6.8m and later sold to the Getty Museum. ¶ Unmarked copy.
