It is divided into four sections, the first concerned with papal conclaves, and mostly documenting processions between the Vatican and St John Lateran; the second section with funerals (including prints of three catafalques designed by Bernini); the third with carnival prints (dominated by the set engraved by François Collignon of festivities for the arrival of the Polish embassy in 1634); and the last section with other religious and political festivals, including prints of firework displays above Castel Sant’Angelo. Contains chronologically arranged bibliographies of relevant festival books and of the secondary literature. ¶ As new.
