(30 cm), [80] pp., illustrations (most in colour). 662 lots. Publisher’s pictorial wrappers. - Includes Baroque medals formerly in the collection of Ulrich A. Middeldorf (1901-1983), Director of the Kunsthistoriches Institut in Florence. Highlight of the sale was a bronze medal of the humanist Giovanni Pico della Mirandola attributed to Niccolò Spinelli, of which only later casts are known (ex-Sotheby’s, Zurich, 27 May 1978, lot 48, SFr65,000). Sold for £100,000 (hammer) to Stack, it reappeared in the Stack sale, conducted by Morton & Eden, 9 December 2009, lot 110, when it realised £120,000 (hammer). ¶ Annotated copy, partly priced.
