Publisher’s pictorial wrappers. - Lot 24-25 are two bound manuscripts of the mid-17th century: the first deriving from Peter Paul Rubens’ lost “Pocketbook”, the second a copy of Leonardo’s manuscript “Trattato della Pittura”. Both volumes had been acquired in the De Ganay sale (Sotheby’s Monte Carlo, 1 December 1989, lots 69-70) by Georgette Barbara “Dodie” Naify Rosekrans (1919-2010), patron of the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco-Legion of Honor. Lots 30-40 are “a newly discovered portfolio of 16th and 17th-century architectural and ornament drawings from a distinguished British private library”. ¶ Copiously annotated copy, partly priced.
