Publisher’s cloth, pictorial dust jackets; original slipcase. - In the first volume are 19 essays, grouped chronologically or according to the locales where the public festivals were staged (St Peter’s, other patriarchal basilicas, squares, streets, etc.). The second consists of ten further essays discussing specifically Roman festivals, such as the possession of the Lateran, the Festa della Chinea (1722-1785), beatifications, and canonisations, followed by a thematic catalogue of visual information related to the festivals (mostly prints and drawings). ¶ Fine copy with minimal traces of use and no marks of ownership.
