L’arte tipografica in Urbino 1493-1800 : Con appendice di documenti, annali (Biblioteca di bibliografia italiana, 49)

Florence, Leo S. Olschki, 1967
(25 cm), xvi, 370 (2) pp., 8 plates. Bound in blue buckram, a collector’s binding. - 637 editions are described (3 incunables, 51 cinquecentine). “Let it be said at once that [Moranti] has done a thorough and, as far as I can judge, almost definitive piece of work very well; he has provided a long introduction on the various presses which operated in the town century by century; he has printed the text from a number of relevant documents from the local archives; and he has given descriptions of 637 editions printed at Urbino up to 1799 including those of which he cannot locate a copy today. There is a generous number of illustrations” (from a review by D.E. Rhodes, in The Library, volume 24, 1969, pp.61-62). Only copies without illustrations are obtainable from the publisher, price €84 (“Testo mancante. Siamo spiacenti. Tranne qualche eccezione, tutti i volumi fino al 1990 non dispongono del testo illustrativo”; www.olschki.it/libro/9788822218568). ¶ Excellent copy.
