Uniform publisher’s cloth, pictorial dust jackets; original slipcase. - A catalogue of mostly French and Italian drawings for the decorative arts, some the working drawings of professional dessinateurs (used in the process of making objects), some depicting works of art (real or imagined), many with an unknown status or function. The drawings are organised in five sections: drawings for ornament; drawings for the decorative arts (with subdivisions for walls, ceilings, fireplaces, furniture, clocks, metalwork, glass, textiles, carriages, and ships); drawings for architecture, gardens, and fountains; drawings for theatre and events; and drawings for sculpture, machines, and miscellaneous. Within each categories, the drawings are organised by country of origin. ¶ Edition limited to 1000 numbered copies (this is 896). Edges of slipcase rubbed; otherwise an excellent, unmarked copy.
